What do you see?
What if the greatest deception in our spiritual lives isn't about what we believe, but about what we fail to do? This powerful message from James 1:22-25 confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: hearing God's word without acting on it creates a false sense of righteousness. We can attend every service, read our Bibles daily, and accumulate biblical knowledge, yet still be deceiving ourselves if we're not actually living out what we learn.
The mirror analogy hits home—just as we wouldn't look in a mirror, see spinach in our teeth or messy hair, and walk away satisfied, we shouldn't examine ourselves through God's word and ignore what needs changing. The sermon challenges us to move beyond religious intellectualism into active faith that transforms not just our own lives, but the lives of those around us. True blessing isn't found in bigger bank accounts or nicer possessions, but in the deep joy and fulfillment that comes from being doers who share the gospel and disciple others. The question we must each answer is simple yet profound: when we look into the mirror of God's word, what do we see, and more importantly, what will we do about it?
